Marea Reed - Artist Bio
Marea Reed’s world of fine art photography aims to capture the nuance and diversity of the Australian existence through an intuitive narrative style in which intimacy and context oscillate in fine balance.
Her photography tells the stories of people and landscapes with a fusion of elegance and complexity that is both informed and inspired by her deep passion for the paintings of the old masters, and for painterly cinematography.
Based in Sydney, Marea’s personal journey of photographer as storyteller is also strongly influenced by a background in journalism, film, public relations and editing.
Her work has been recognised by the industry with a number of honours. As well as Head On, in 2016 she has exhibited in a group show and a solo show at Melbourne’s Red Gallery and, by invitation, will exhibit in Berlin at the 4th Biennial of Fine Art and Documentary Photography in October.
