Art is My Voice
‘Art is My Voice’ features five asylum seekers from countries including Somalia and Iran who will have their photographic work exhibited at the Contact Sheet gallery from the 21st- 25th of February. The exhibition forms part of a participatory program in collaboration with Life Without Barriers and Flashpoint Labs, centred on forging a new positive path for participants in the initiative.
The program was developed and delivered by Paul McDonald, Director of Contact Sheet for Flashpoint labs in partnership with Life Without Barriers and supported by Canon and Raffles Design College in celebration of artistic and cultural diversity. The works exhibited explore the individual and personal interests and experiences of each of the artists involved in this program, ranging from naturalistic landscape photography to portraiture.
Artists include Homa Nozari, Reza Nadery, Ali Vaziri and Majid all from Iran, and Hani Abdile from Somalia, who have each been living in Australia for around 3 years.
A huge thank you to our facilitators for the program Steven Cavanagh, Aletheia Casey, Saskia Wilson and Hugo Sharp, we appreciate your ongoing support of Contact Sheet.
